The Celtic Nations Heritage Center was conceived by the Celtic Nations Heritage Foundation President Danny O'Flaherty. His hope was to found a place where the traditions of the Celtic peoples wouldn't be forgotten. In this day and age, in the melting pot that the world is becoming, it is important to remember who we are, and how we came to be.

The Celtic Nations Heritage Center was conceived to serve in the following capacities:

  • Educate and bring together people of Celtic decent and estableish ties to community and the education system.
  • A central location that can serve as a classroon for the varied arts, crafts, and skills of the Celtic peoples.
  • A strong base to integrate into the higher education system with programs like a general Celtic Studies degree, Languare degrees, and Celtic Archaeology.
  • Bring attention to the plight of the vairous remaining Celtic Nations, the falling numbers of native speakers, and to serve as an example to the rest of the World's "Pocket Cultures" on methods to establish and maintain ties to their own precious cultures.
  • Serve as a clearing house of information on the various Celtic cultures, living and dead, and to disseminate the information where ever it is needed.
  • Through endowments, establish University Chairs, in various Celtic studies, as far as is feasible, both monetarily and geographically.
  • Help fund festivals, events, and gatherings that pertain to, deal with, and promote Celtic heritage.
  • Insure the survival of the various sports, traditions, and skills of the Celtic peoples, through primary and secondary school projects. This might include establishing currach rowing teams, hurling, rugby, pipe bands, music instruction, and folk dancing.
  • It will be a destination for tourists from around the world to learn about Celtic culture in Louisiana.

The Celtic Nations Heritage Center will be the base that the Foundation will effect its ideas.
