Statement of Need

The Development of a Celtic Nations Heritage Center will fill a long-standing need in not only Louisiana but in the entire Southeast, servicing the needs of community members both with a Celtic heritage and without. This center will offer a multi-use complex of buildings and outdoor facilities which are devoted to the presentation of the Celtic history and culture. It will be a showcase for our Celtic heritage.

The Celtic Nations Heritage Center will provide a place where:

  • The history of the Celtic people will be able to be researched and learned through use of the Celtic Library.
  • Celtic organizations and associations will have a place to meet.
  • The American public, at large, can learn about Celtic history, heritage, and contributions to our nation.
  • People of all ages will be able to experience Celtic music, plays, and art with the creation of anauditorium at the Center.
  • With outdoor athletic fields, individuals will be able to observe the Highland Games right on site and it will also allow for first-hand participation, making learning more realistic.
  • Scholars from the seven Celtic Nations will have an opportunity to come to the center and provide educational opportunities for the community. Six dormitory style rooms will offer accommodations to the visiting scholars.
  • The Celtic people can come together to celebrate and preserve their past, and promote the continuation their traditions.
  • Students, teachers and families can learn about the history and heritage of the Celtic people.
  • It will be a destination for tourists from around the world to learn about Celtic culture in Louisiana.

The Celtic Nations Heritage Center will enhance the foundations ability to pursue its mission by offering facilities where we can provide quality music, arts, crafts, cuisine, educational and sports activities which are such a vital part of the Celtic Culture. The need for this facility is crucial to the future of providing current and future populations with the access to Celtic heritage and Culture.

Just as the volunteers who have built the Celtic Nations Heritage Foundation and Festival into what they are today, you now have the opportunity to help lay the foundation for its future success.

Newsflash

The 2009 Celtic Nations Burns Supper was a great success, with lots of food and fun for all. Local food critic Arthur Hebert attended and wrote a review of the evening. http://swlaeats.blogspot.com/2009/01/burns-dinner.html
